The 83 meters magnificient building

It was built according to the plans of Ödön Leichner and combines Renaissance, Baroque, Islamic and Hungarian folk-style elements. 500 kinds of bricks, glazed tiles, pyrogranite elements and mosaics were used in its construction.

Due to the destruction caused by the World War II. it was almost completely destroyed, but in 1994, the glass windows were replaced and special architectural solutions were used by the specialists, the interior renovations were completed in 1997.

In 1991

regained its listed historical building status and today the church has been classified as an internationally protected building and listed in the UNESCO World Heritage tentative list.
